2007 season news and announcements

Coaching

Rob Powell has moved on to pastures new, having been recruited by Harlequins RLFC as assistant head coach. Although sorry to see him go, the club welcomes this excellent news and wishes Rob great success in his new post.

Following Rob's departure, the club welcomes Andy Gilvary, who will take the reins for the foreseeable future.

With the essential support of Matt Young at Access Sport, the Bulls have also been able to introduce Chris Beaven, Wilf Smith and Lee McCarthy onto the nationally recognised UKCC First For Sport Level 2 RFL Rugby League Coaching Award. With an excellent mix of youth and experience in a fully qualified and safe environment for all participants to learn in, the coaching staff look set to make both a positive and educational impact this season. A special mention must go to Tom and Wilf, for without whom the Junior section of the club would simply not exist.

Minis

This years minis' calendar is a full and exciting one. The U9s and U11s will play in front of over 400 people at the Storm Family festival, and will also compete against the nationally recognised Thatto Heath side from St. Helens. We will be visiting the Stoop and Quins; and with the support of Philip King, Gareth Welsch and Tim Clarke we are all in for a rugby league roller-coaster of a year.

New home ground and kit

With the support of our sponsors, Access Sport and Lambeth Council, and with the aid of Rodney Craig and Tom Eisenhuth, we now have a new home ground and training facility. Community football development ambassador Gary Cornforth has allowed the Bulls to use the safe and relevant environment of Rosendale Playing Fields right next to our old ground of Brockwell Park. With this and a bright new kit provided by ISC for each age group, Brixton Bulls will look the business this year.
